Ink Business Premier Credit Card Review

The Ink Business Premier is a premium business card that earns up to 2.5% cash back on select purchases for a $195 annual fee.

Pay-in-Full or Over Time – It’s Up to You

The Ink Business Premier is a “pay-in-full card.” The card provides access to increased spending power, rich rewards, and premium benefits for businesses that prefer to pay their balance in full each month.

A pay-in-full card (or a charge card as it is more commonly known) might scare away some applicants who prefer the pay-over-time benefits of a traditional credit card. Never fear – Chase Ink offers something called “Flex for Business.”

Chase Flex for Business provides flexibility to pay for eligible purchases over time with interest so companies can be prepared for opportunities today and have the flexibility for tomorrow. The Flex feature lets companies select which purchases to finance over time or opt to have purchases of $500 or more automatically included in their Flex for Business balance (subject to available credit).

Impressive Cash Back Welcome Bonus

Chase Ink Business cards are known for their generous welcome offers – and the Ink Business Premier Credit Card is no different. New accounts receive 100,000 bonus points (redeemable for $1,000 cash back) after making at least $10,000 in purchases during the first three months from account opening. A $1,000 cash back welcome bonus after $10,000 in spending amounts to a 10% cash back bonus.

How to Earn Cash Back Rewards

The Ink Business Premier Credit Card earns impressive cash back rewards on every purchase. How impressive depends on the cost of said purchase, with more significant buys earning bigger rewards.

For starters, Ink Business Premier cardholders earn 5% cash back rewards on travel purchases booked through the Ultimate Rewards program. Eligible travel purchases include airline tickets, hotel accommodations, car rentals, activities, and cruises. This is a feature of all Ink small business credit cards.

Businesses earn an impressive 2.5% cash back on every purchase of $5,000 or more. That cash back tally is massive for companies that spend big, with $250 back on a purchase of $10,000 (when redeemed for cash back as a statement credit). Companies also earn an unlimited 2% cash back on all other purchases.

Cash back rewards with Chase (and Ultimate Rewards points) never expire as long as the primary account is open and in good standing. Account status changes, such as program misuse, fraudulent activities, failure to pay, bankruptcy, or other reasons, may result in immediate forfeiture of points.

How to Redeem Cash Back

Chase cash back credit cards offer greater versatility than similar offers from many competitors. That’s because cash back through the Ink Card applies towards redemptions through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal. Chase Ultimate Rewards offers exceptional value for money, with a variety of award options, including travel, gift cards, charitable donations, merchandise through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal, and points transfers with select partners

Chase’s current Ultimate Rewards transfer partners include:

Aer Lingus (AerClub) Air France/KLM (Flying Blue) Emirates (Skywards)
Air Canada (Aeroplan) British Airways (Executive Club) Iberia Plus
JetBlue (TrueBlue) Southwest (Rapid Rewards) Singapore Airlines (KrisFlyer)
Virgin Atlantic (Flying Club) United Airlines (MileagePlus) IHG Rewards

JP Morgan Chase and Ink Business Credit Card Ratings

How does the Ink Business Visa Signature stack up? Here are a selection of expert reviews for the card, as well as an overview of JP Morgan Chase as a bank:

Should You Apply for the Chase Ink Business Premier Visa Signature Credit Card?

The Ink Business Premier Credit Card is a decent cash back card for companies that want super-sized rewards and are willing to pay a hefty price. The card’s unlimited 2% cash back is nice but not something that can’t be found elsewhere. In fact, the value for money is lacking with the card – especially as comparable products are available from Chase, though at a slightly lower earning rate. Still, the Premier simply doesn’t offer enough value unless your company plans to maximize the 2.5% back category.

The three competitor cards outlined above (the Ramp Visa, BILL Divvy Corporate Card, and Revenued Business Card) all provide similar rewards, with no annual fee and much greater software and accounting integrations. Those technological integrations provide real value for companies – far more than 2% cash back. And while those cards are more corporate cards or prepaid debit cards, for a company that plans to pay in full, they might provide more controls than a charge card.

Ultimately, plan to spend big on investing in your business. The Ink Business Premier might be the ideal corporate charge card. If not, however, don’t fret; plenty of other business card options are available.
