Notre Dame EDU Credit Card Review

The Notre Dame EDU co-branded Mastercard for students is an excellent student credit card for those attending the University of Notre Dame. The card is especially ideal for international students, as Deserve does not require a Social Security Number (SSN) to apply.

Student credit cards are generally easier to receive than regular credit cards because they are geared towards those with limited – or no credit history. The issuer takes this a step further by removing the need for an SSN, opening the world of unsecured credit to a broader selection of learners.

No SSN needed makes the card perfect for international students that want to establish credit in the United States but don’t want to pay a security deposit to open a secured credit card account. All international Fighting Irish students need to apply is their passport, US bank account information, and valid US student visa.

Average Cash Back Rewards

The Notre Dame EDU Mastercard offers cardholders 1% cash back on all eligible purchases. Those rewards aren’t exceptional, but they are a great addition to the overall package. All cash back rewards are issued as statement credits and are automatically applied to the cardholder’s statement in increments of $25

Amazon Prime Student Bonus Offer

The complimentary Amazon Prime Student membership after Fighting Irish students meet a minimum spending goal within the first three billing cycles is equally enjoyable. Spend $500 in the first three months, and the Prime membership is yours. Prime offers free shipping, streaming videos and music, and more for members, meaning students enjoy real value with this bonus – a $59 value.

Support the Notre Dame Scholarship Fund

Deserve teams up with its co-branded schools to help fund academic and social initiatives – and the Notre Dame EDU Mastercard is no different. Every successful Notre Dame EDU (and Notre Dame PRO) credit card application helps fund local Notre Dame clubs through the Notre Dame Global Partnerships initiative – for up to $42,000.

No Foreign Transaction Fees

One of the great features of the Notre Dame EDU Mastercard is that it charges no foreign transaction fees. Many credit cards feature foreign charge fees of up to 3% of the transaction cost, making them expensive to use outside the United States. This feature makes the Deserve/ Notre Dame EDU Credit Card ideal for international ND students – or US students looking to travel abroad during their studies/ summer break.

Other Card Features

Other notable features of the Notre Dame EDU Credit Card include:

  • Mastercard features like Collision Damage Waiver, ID Theft Protection, and Zero Fraud Liability
  • Cellphone protection for up to $600
  • Generous credit limits
  • No annual fee
  • Three months of Text + Talk through Mint Mobile

Should You Apply for the Notre Dame EDU Mastercard Credit Card?

Is the Notre Dame Edu worth getting? For the Notre Dame students, it’s a definite “yes.”

The Notre Dame EDU features all of the same features you’d expect from a student credit card, but with the added perks that come from Notre Dame. These perks include donations to the University of Notre Dame scholarship fund and Notre Dame Alumni Association clubs, an exclusive Fighting Irish/ University of Notre Dame card design, and a bevy of features standard with the other Deserve products.
