My GMC Rewards Card Review
The My GMC Rewards Card is an auto rewards credit card that’s ideal if you are planning on getting a new GMC vehicle – or just prefer to have your existing vehicle serviced at GMC service centers. The card charges no foreign transaction fees and no annual fee.
Special Bonus Points Offer
Once you successfully apply for and receive your new My GMC Rewards Card, you can earn a 15,000-point bonus after making at least $1,000 in purchases on the card within 90 days of opening the account. You can also earn a $100 statement credit each calendar year after spending $1,500 on fuel. Or, if you have an GM electric vehicle, you can opt for a $100 statement credit when you use this card to pay six electrical bills in a calendar year.
Cardholders also receive a $50 allowance after using their GMC Rewards Mastercard for vehicle detailing at a participating GM dealer every calendar year.
How to Earn Rewards Points on Purchases
The My GMC Rewards Mastercard earns up to 7X total points per dollar on GM purchases, including service, parts, and accessories purchased at participating General Motors dealerships and service centers. That 7X point tally is impressive and provides excellent value if you are planning on buying or leasing a new GM vehicle.
The GMC credit card also earns 4X points per dollar on all other eligible purchases outside of General Motors brands. There is no limit to how much you can earn – and redeem – toward an eligible, new GM vehicle.
Estimated Points Breakdown
Here is a breakdown of the estimated costs of a new 2023 GMC Canyon at the $38,095 manufacturer’s recommended price (MSRP). This breakdown shows how much you can expect to earn when using your My GMC Rewards Card to purchase the vehicle, and the points totals:
- $38,095 new vehicle MSRP (1X points per $5 of the MSRP) = 7,649 points via My GM Rewards loyalty program, a $76.49 cash value
- $513 on auto Insurance (4X points) using the card = 2,052 points, a $20.52 cash value
- $500 on vehicle maintenance (7X points) using the card = 3,500 points, a $35.00 cash value
- $1,823 in taxes and fees (4X points) = 3,296 points, a $32.96 cash value
- GM Protection Plan = 2,500 points, a $25 cash value
- $300 OnStar Essentials plan (4X points) = 1,200 points, a $12 cash value
- Total: 20,197 points, a $201.97 cash value
How to Redeem Points
Redeeming points with My GMC Rewards credit card is straightforward. You can redeem unlimited points toward an eligible new or pre-owned GM vehicle purchase or lease. Cardholders can also redeem up to $1,000 toward purchasing a Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, or GMC Certified Pre-Owned vehicle.
Other redemption options include points towards paid GM Certified Service, GM Genuine Parts and ACDelco Parts, eligible accessories, OnStar and Connected Services plans, GM Financial and Protection Plans, and SiriusXM® subscriptions. Gold and Platinum rewards members can also redeem points towards gift cards from various eligible merchants, stores, restaurants, and more, at a 1% redemption rate.

Should You Apply for the My GMC Rewards World Elite Mastercard?
Even though the 7X total points per $1 can turn heads, is the My GMC Rewards Card worth the hype? The answer may be a strong yes if you are a loyal GM customer. GM customers can benefit from the card’s high rewards-earning rate and GM-focused redemption options. Still, non-GM enthusiasts (or even those merely considering a GMC, GMC, Buick, or other GM brand vehicle) might find the card thin on value.
