TSC Visa Card Review

The TSC Visa is an exciting retail credit card from Citi Retail Services and Tractor Supply Co. Tractor Supply Company is an U.S.-based retail chain of stores that sells products for home improvement, agriculture, lawn and garden maintenance, livestock, equine and pet care for recreational farmers and ranchers, pet owners, and landowners.

Tractor Supply Co. Welcome Bonus

New accounts with the TSC Visa Card earn $50 in rewards with their first qualifying purchases of $50 or more. Rewards are in the form of certificates that can be redeemed for products or services at a Tractor Supply or Petsense stores, online at TractorSupply.com, or in the TSC App. Rewards are issued in increments of $10 (1,000 points) and members can change their amount in their online profile.

All members may choose to have rewards issued in $5 (500 points) increments, and Preferred Plus Neighbors may also select an increment of $20 (2,000 points).

How to Earn Cash Back

The TSC Visa earns its best rewards when shoppers use it to buy at Tractor Supply Co. purchases. Specifically, cardholders earn 5% in rewards when shopping at the retailer.

The TSC Visa Card earns its second-best rewards rate in three common spending categories. Cardholders can earn 3% back at gas stations, grocery stores, and vet purchases. Gas and grocery purchases are excellent for the commuter and parent on the school run. At the same time, veterinary charges are a unique category that sets the card apart from many similar cards.

The 3% back on gas and groceries is a competitive rate, though it’s less than the 4% back earned by the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card (also issued by Citi). However, the latter also requires a Costco membership (a $60/year charge) to be a cardholder. For those weighing their options, another Citi card to consider is the Citi Custom Cash℠ Card, which earns 5% cash back on purchases in your top eligible spending category each billing cycle (up to the first $500 spent, 1% cash back thereafter). The Custom Cash Card’s 5% cash back categories include gas stations, making it a great choice for people who want gas rewards and no annual fee.

As mentioned, the Tractor Supply Co. Visa Card impresses with its uncommon “vet purchases” rewards category. That category (MCC 0742 for Visa) is hardly ever seen in other credit cards. Other pet-centric credit cards earn rewards on pet purchases, such as food, supplies, and toys, but not necessarily veterinarian expenses. For example, the Petco Pay Mastercard earns 8% Back in Pals Rewards at participating Petco locations and Petco.com, while the Best Friends® Credit Card earns 5% cash back rewards on eligible pet shops, pet foods, and supplies stores purchases for the first $5,000 spent per calendar year.

All other purchases with the TSC Visa Card earn an unlimited 1% back in rewards. It’s important to note that rewards expire 60 days after they are issued. Tractor Supply Co. will send a reminder to ensure you use your rewards before they expire. Once a reward expires, it can no longer be used.

How to Redeem Rewards

TSC Visa cardholders can redeem rewards a few different ways: Online at TractorSupply.com by applying the reward in their Wallet to their cart; or in-store by showing the reward to the cashier from the TSC App or by showing the email with the reward. Customers can apply the reward to their in-store purchase at Tractor Supply or Petsense. They can also ask a Team Member if they have rewards available – in case they haven’t kept track of their rewards balance in a while. Members enrolling in Neighbor’s Club must log into their online account using the same email address used to register before redeeming rewards online.

Special Financing

Like other retail co-branded credit cards, the TSC Visa offers special financing – in this case, on purchases of $199 or more. Cardholders can opt for special financing instead of rewards if they choose to receive a lower interest rate for their shopping and perhaps don’t value rewards as much. Here are the special financing terms:

  • Six months of no interest financing on Tractor Supply Co. purchases of $199 or more (if paid in full within that time)
  • Twelve months of no interest financing on Tractor Supply Co. purchases of $399 or more (if paid in full within that time)
  • Thirty-six months of special financing at 3.99% on Tractor Supply Co. purchases of $1,599 or more

Other Tractor Supply Co. Features

Beyond a $50 welcome bonus in rewards, and up to 5% in rewards back on purchases, the TSC Visa Card also enjoys several other Tractor Supply Co. benefits. These TSC advantages include:

  • Free full-day tractor rentals
  • Free everyday standard shipping
  • Free same-day delivery
  • TSC Preferred Plus Neighbor status

Note that the free delivery and tractor rentals are limited to two per quarter per account.

Other Card Features

Other notable features of the TSC Visa include access to lifestyle benefits, including Visa benefits and protections:

Zero Fraud Liability Cardholder Inquiry Services Emergency Card Replacement
Roadside Dispatch and Auto Collision Damage Waiver Lost/Stolen Card Reporting ID Navigator from Norton

Other card features include 24/7 online account access, an online payment portal, and more.

Should You Apply for the TSC Visa Card?

Overall, the TSC Visa Card offers plenty to love with Tractor Supply Co, plus versatile rewards categories that can provide savings where other cards lack them. The biggest win with the TSC Card is the 3% back on veterinary services and purchases. As mentioned, other pet-centric credit cards earn rewards on pet purchases, such as food, supplies, and toys, but not necessarily veterinarian costs.

Ultimately, the card provides exceptional value for pet owners, commuters, and do-it-yourselfers that want versatile rewards with no annual fee.
