Notre Dame PRO Credit Card Review

The Notre Dame PRO Credit Card is the professional version of the Deserve® credit card lineup. The card features no annual fee and offers a slate of impressive perks and cash back in one unique package.

Accelerated Cash Back Rewards on Select Purchases

The Notre Dame alumni version of the Deserve PRO Card differs from other Deserve credit cards in that it offers additional cash back on select purchase categories. The PRO, for instance, offers up to 3% back, whereas the Notre Dame EDU offers an unlimited 1% cash back rewards only.

Those bonus categories enjoy significant value: travel and dining. Cardholders earn 3% cash back per dollar spent on eligible travel purchases, including flights, hotels, rental cars, and more. Cardholders also earn 2% back on dining – including takeout and delivery services like PostMates, DoorDash, Grub Hub, and more. All other purchases with the card earn an unlimited 1% cash back.

Note that the bonus cash back categories are limited to the first $500 in spending each statement period. After that, cardholders earn a flat rate of 1% cash back, with no limit on the rewards earnable.

Support the Notre Dame Scholarship Fund

Deserve teams up with its co-branded schools to help fund academic and social initiatives – and the Notre Dame PRO Mastercard is no different. Every successful Notre Dame PRO (and Notre Dame EDU) credit card application helps fund local Notre Dame clubs through the Notre Dame Global Partnerships initiative – for up to $42,000.

Priority Pass Membership Sign-Up Bonus

The PRO offers a more enticing perk for travelers than the Amazon Prime subscription available to Notre Dame EDU cardholders: Priority Pass Select.

New PRO accounts receive a complimentary one-year membership to Priority Pass Select after making $1,000 of purchases with the Notre Dame PRO card within the first 90 days after activation. Priority Pass provides access to over 1,500 airport lounges worldwide. This bonus has a value of $99, which is a decent reward for a modest spending goal.

Priority Pass Select with the Notre Dame PRO Credit Card (or other Deserve PRO versions) is not the same as Priority Pass Select with an ultra-premium travel card, like the Chase Sapphire Reserve or the Amex Platinum Card, however. Those premium cards offer complimentary lounge access for cardholders, with guests being charged a fee for entry. The ND PRO will still charge an entry fee of $32 per cardholder lounge visit – and $32 per guest.

Other Card Features

Other notable features of the Notre Dame PRO Mastercard include:

  • No annual fee
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Three months of Text + Talk through Mint Mobile
  • Mastercard World features
  • Zero Fraud Liability
  • Mastercard Luxury Hotel Collection and Concierge access
  • Cellphone protection for up to $600 when paying the bill with your card
  • Generous credit limits of up to $10,000

Should You Apply for the Notre Dame PRO Credit Card?

The Notre Dame PRO World Mastercard has plenty going for Notre Dame alumni that are new to rewards credit cards. The card earns adequate cash back rewards on the sorts of purchases professionals regularly make, but the cap on earrings means that value has its limits.

The addition of Priority Pass Select is an enticing proposition, but it is flawed based on the lack of free lounge visits. Instead, cardholders must still pay for access – something not found with more premium travel credit cards.

Overall, the Notre Dame PRO Credit Card provides enough to justify an application for the Fighting Irish alumnus that wants an entry-level rewards card with generous credit lines and a more forgiving application process.
