American Airlines is extending its SimplyMiles program to include all AAdvantage members, regardless of their credit card. SimplyMiles is a unique program that lets AAdvantage members earn rewards when shopping their favorite brands. Leading brands with the program include CVS, Walgreens, Best Buy, Exxon, Hello Fresh, and more.
AAdvantage Members Now Earn SimplyMiles Without Co-Branded Credit Cards
While the introduction of the SimplyMiles program isn’t new, the extension of the program to those without an American Airlines co-branded credit card is. Previously, only those with an AA credit card through Citi or Barclays could join the program. Now, however, AAdvantage membership and a Visa or Mastercard are the only requirements.
Current American Airlines loyalty members can join SimplyMiles by registering on the rewards site and adding any Mastercard or Visa credit card as their payment method. After joining, members can activate personalized offers and earn miles with everyday purchases.
Some of the more notable current offers include:
- An additional 150 miles after spending $50 at Walgreens
- 1,000 miles after spending $45 at CVS
- 250 extra miles after spending $200 at Best Buy
SimplyMiles isn’t going to provide a giant haul of airline miles. That said, it is a nice park for current AAdvantage members. The chance at extra miles is always welcome, especially if it’s for making purchases you’ll probably make anyway.
The best value, however, remains with using a co-branded card, like the American Airlines AAdvantage® MileUp Mastercard®, to purchase flights through the carrier.
