How to Join TrueBlue
Joining TrueBlue is fairly simple. All you need to do is log on to the JetBlue website, sign up, and you’re all set.
Earning TrueBlue Points
JetBlue offers several ways to earn points as a TrueBlue member. You can choose any (or a combination) of the following methods:
Earning Points with Flights
The easiest way to earn TrueBlue points is by booking to fly JetBlue. Members earn three base points for every dollar they spend with the airline and can even double their points – 6 points per $1 spent – when booking directly at the airline’s website. Beyond the initial points, TrueBlue members also earn extra points based on the fare type they purchase.
Fare earnings include:
TrueBlue
3X bonus points per dollar spent on the airline’s website
TrueBlue Plus
4X bonus points per dollar spent on the airline’s website
TrueBlue Flex
5X bonus points per dollar spent on the airline’s website
Mint
3X bonus points per dollar spent on the airline’s website
What do these bonus points look like in real numbers? If your basic fare with a Blue-fare flight was $300, you can expect to earn 1,800 points when you book on the JetBlue website. For the same price on a Blue Plus fare, you’d earn 2,100 points. 2,400 points would be the yield on a Blue Flex fare, and so on.
Getting Credit for Previous Flights
Just because you already flew by JetBlue doesn’t mean you can’t earn rewards from a flight that occurred before you joined the TrueBlue program. JetBlue allows TrueBlue members to earn miles from any flights made in the previous 12 months that were not awarded points. Visit the TrueBlue site and enter your flight details to reclaim missing points.
Traveling with JetBlue Partners
You can still earn TrueBlue points even if JetBlue doesn’t fly to your destination of choice. The carrier has partnerships with several other airlines that can help you reach your desired location if JetBlue doesn’t already get you there. Booking with these airlines will also earn TrueBlue points, meaning you can rack up rewards even when you aren’t on a JetBlue flight.
Partner airlines include:
- American Airlines
- Emirates
- Hawaiian Airlines
- Silver Airlines
- South African Airlines
Badges
One of the unique features of the TrueBlue program is the fun nature of the program itself. JetBlue is renowned for its customer service and the great flying experiences it provides customers. The same attention to detail is present in their frequent flyer program.
TrueBlue has a collection of over 400 badges that TrueBlue members can collect for bonus points. These badges can be earned for completing tasks, such as interacting with the JetBlue team via social media, making round-trip flights a certain number of times per year, or connecting the JetBlue app to a Facebook account. The value for badges ranges from 50 for syncing up Facebook and the app to 5,000 points for completing three round trip flights in a calendar year.
Purchases at ShopBlue
TrueBlue members can earn points when making purchases through the airline’s dedicated shopping portal. The portal features hundreds of the leading retailers you might normally make purchases with, with the twist that when you purchase through JetBlue, you earn 3 points for every dollar you spend.
The portal doesn’t just contain retail choices, however. TrueBlue members can also earn points when booking hotels and rental cars through the portal.
Credit Cards
One of the easiest ways to amass a hefty haul of TrueBlue points is by applying for – and using – a JetBlue co-branded credit card.
JetBlue credit card offers are great for earning points – especially when booking flights directly with JetBlue or making purchases through the retail portal. These transactions earn added points per dollar on top of the typical rate at which TrueBlue members earn on purchases.
TrueBlue Credit Card Transfer Partners
JetBlue TrueBlue is also a transfer partner of Chase Ultimate Rewards and American Express Membership Rewards, meaning there are multiple ways to maximize points. Members can transfer their Ultimate Rewards (UR) or Membership Rewards (MR) points to top-off their TrueBlue points points total for even more luxurious flights.
Amex MR apply to the following American Express personal and small business cards:
- Platinum Card® from American Express
- Platinum Card® from American Express Exclusively for Morgan Stanley
- Platinum Card® from American Express for Schwab
- American Express® Gold Card
- American Express® Green Card
- Amex EveryDay® Preferred Card
- Amex EveryDay® Credit Card
- Business Platinum Card®
- American Express® Business Gold Card
- Business Green Rewards Card
- Blue Business Plus Credit Card from American Express
Chase Ultimate Rewards apply to the following card offers from JP Morgan Chase:
Interestingly, Chase UR points can also be earned by converting cash back rewards via Chase’s Freedom family of credit cards. This means that cardmembers of the following credit cards can use their cash back and convert that into UR points:
- Chase Freedom Flex World Elite Mastercard
- Chase Freedom Unlimited®
- Chase Freedom® Credit Card
- Chase Freedom® Student Credit Card
Unfortunately, Chase Freedom credit cards feature no annual fee, meaning that while users can convert cash back to UR, those UR points cannot transfer to transfer partners – including TrueBlue. The Chase credit card must feature a premium annual fee to redeem UR points as external points, like the Sapphire cards.

Redeeming TrueBlue Points
In the same way that members have multiple ways of earning TrueBlue points, the airline offers various choices for redeem rewards. As with all airline rewards, be sure to check for blackout dates before redeeming.
Flights with JetBlue
The easiest way to redeem TrueBlue points is through bookings with JetBlue. To use points for flights, members need to book their flight at JetBlue.com and choose to pay with points. There is no set value for TrueBlue points in terms of dollars, but generally you can expect a ration of roughly 1:1 to 1:1.5 points to dollars.
Flights with JetBlue Partners
As JetBlue has partnerships with several airlines across the globe, TrueBlue members can also use their points to book flights with those partners. The easiest is with Hawaiian Airlines, whose flights can be booked through a simple call to the call center reservations number: 1-800-538-2583.
Vacations with JetBlue
If you are looking for something a little more grandiose, why not use TrueBlue points to pay for an entire vacation package? JetBlue Vacations, the airline’s vacation page, offers bundles on packages to over 100 destinations worldwide, including leading hotel chains and resorts.
TrueBlue Mosaic
TrueBlue Mosaic is JetBlue’s frequent flyer elite tier. It is also JetBlue’s only tier for frequent flyer perks.
How to Reach Mosaic Tier with TrueBlue
There are two routes for reaching Mosaic status with JetBlue. The first is by amassing 15,000 points through flights with JetBlue or JetBlue partners in a calendar year. The second route is by amassing 12,000 TrueBlue points through JetBlue or partners in a calendar year and flying 30 segments in a year. Segments refer to a portion of a flight, such as from Point A to Point B. A round-trip flight with no stopovers qualifies as two segments.
Mosaic Perks
Mosaic, like elite frequent flyer tiers from other airlines, offers perks that regular travelers don’t have access to. As JetBlue is a low-cost carrier, however, you won’t receive the same level of luxurious perks you may expect from a global carrier, such as Emirates.
Mosaic TrueBlue members get some nice perks that are worth taking advantage of – especially for frequent travelers. These perks include:
- Fee-Free Itineraries: Mosaic members have fees waived for cancellations and changes
- Bag Allowances: Mosaic members get their first and second bags checked free of charge
- Security: Mosaic members have access to expedited security checkpoints
- Priority Boarding
- Complimentary alcoholic beverages in-flight
- Dedicated customer service support
