Hawaiian Airlines® World Elite Mastercard® Review

The Hawaiian Airlines® World Elite Mastercard® is a reliable co-branded airline card for those who live in or around the North American west coast or in Hawaii. For frequent Pacific travelers, the ability to earn triple miles when flying with Hawaiian Airlines is a great feature. Cardholders also earn double miles at gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants, and single miles for everything else.

Redeeming Miles

Redeeming miles with the HawaiianMiles program is easy and convenient. Flights can be booked with Hawaiian Airlines (with flights starting as low as 7,500 miles) or with partner carriers, including Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Australia, Qantas, British Airways, JetBlue, Iberia, and LATAM. There are also no blackout dates when booking with Hawaiian. Additionally, miles can be used for rental cars and hotels from some of the biggest names in the industry or can be used for retail purchases or as gifts to friends, family, or charities.

Beware the Annual Fee

The Hawaiian Airlines® World Elite Mastercard® Is a very good card – and one that should be carefully considered. The annual fee of $99 is waived for the first year, meaning the savings are even better. The card also has no foreign transaction fees, making it a useful tool for the frequent world traveler. Overall, this card has a lot to offer – and even after the annual fee waiver expires, the $99 yearly cost goes a long way.

Other Card Features

The card also benefits from a 50% discounted companion fare for new members, as well as a $1000 discounted companion fare on each account anniversary. These companion fares are applicable for flights between North America and Hawaii. Cardholders also benefit from a first free checked bag on select Hawaiian flights, no blackout dates, and the annual fee being waived for the first year.

For these individuals, choosing a co-branded card with a major airline that partners with an Alliance of carriers, such as OneworldStar Alliance, or SkyTeam may provide a more global wealth of reward possibilities.
