Choice Hotels is running a special bonus for transferring Choice Privileges points to United MileagePlus miles. Through July, members of Choice’s hotel loyalty program earn 100% more miles when they transfer their points to United. Here’s what you need to know about the new Choice to United transfer bonus:
Choice Privileges to United MileagePlus Transfer Bonus Details
Now Choice Privileges members can transfer their hotel points to United MileagePlus at a rate of five points to two United miles. Choice points usually transfer to United MileagePlus miles at a rate of five points per mile.
The 100% transfer bonus runs for a limited time and requires a minimum of 5,000 Choice points to transfer. The current 5:2 Choice to United ratio runs until 11:59 pm on July 31, 2020. Choice members seeking to transfer points must also be active United Airlines MileagePlus members to qualify for the bonus rate.
Is the New Bonus Worth It?
While a 100% bonus might sound tempting, there are several reasons why Choice Privileges members should hold on to their points.
Choice points previously transferred to United miles at a much higher rate, with the same 5,000 Privilege points worth approximately 3,250 MileagePlus miles. This new offer, therefore, is still significantly lower than the previous transfer value.
The coronavirus pandemic is also hindering air travel. Since the new Choice-to-United Airlines transfer bonus only runs through July 31, the value of transferring points to miles is limited. Instead, the better value might be to hold on to the hotel points and apply them to an eligible stay.
