Terms & ConditionsUniversity Credit Union Traditional Mastercard Review
The UCU Traditional Mastercard is a no-fuss, no-nonsense credit card that offers exceptional value for money. Unlike many other low APR credit cards that rely on initial bonuses and perks to entice applicants, the UCU Traditional Mastercard instead relies on its impressive rates – and nothing else.
The card features a fixed rate APR of 8.9% on balance transfers, purchases, and cash advances. The Traditional Mastercard, like other low APR credit cards or 0% introductory APR cards, doesn’t vary based on creditworthiness – which is a great feature – but may differ depending upon the current Prime Rate.
The exceptionally low APR available with the UCU Traditional Mastercard makes it a fantastic tool for those who live and work in South Florida and want a versatile tool in the wallet should they need to carry a balance, conduct a transfer, or finance a large purchase.
Beyond the low APR, the University Credit Union Traditional Mastercard also boasts that it lacks hidden fees – and these claims indeed hold water upon close inspection. The card has no annual fee, no penalty APR, no over-the-limit fees, and no fees for balance transfers or cash advances. The only place where this card falls somewhat short is by charging foreign transaction fees, but as this is a measly 1% of the transaction cost in U.S. Dollars, this is a nit-pick. In reality, the University Credit Union Traditional Mastercard is more of a secret financial weapon than a travel card, feeling more at home in Miami than in Morocco.
Should You Apply for the UCU Traditional Mastercard?
Overall, the University Credit Union Traditional Mastercard is an excellent card for those seeking at an exceptionally low APR without the bells and whistles typically added to cards to attract attention. Don’t let the understated nature of the card fool you, however, as it also offers a host of Mastercard perks, including travel insurance coverage, EMV chip technology, and worldwide acceptance.
