About Liberty Bank

Liberty Bank is a Connecticut-based bank – and the third-largest bank in that state by total assets.  Liberty Bank is also the oldest mutual savings bank in the entire United States, with a history dating to 1825.

Liberty was founded initially as Middletown Savings Bank in Middletown, CT. In 1997, the Liberty Bank Foundation (as the bank had now adopted its current name) was established to provide grants to non-profit organizations, thus continuing the bank’s community-oriented approach.

In 2001, Liberty Bank merged with Hometown Bank, and later, the Bank of Southern Connecticut, making it one of the largest banks in the state.  Today, Liberty Bank operates 55 branches in Connecticut and provides a full suite of banking services and products to consumers and businesses.

Branch Locations

Liberty Bank operates 55 branches throughout Connecticut, meaning if you are a CT resident, chances are there is a Liberty location nearby. For a complete list of Liberty Bank offices, including ATM locations, directions, and hours of operation, please visit the bank’s dedicated location finder page.

Liberty Bank Credit Cards

While Liberty Bank is its own financial institution, the bank’s credit cards are issued by Elan Financial Services.

Points in the Elan Rewards Program apply towards the usual redemption options members expect from a rewards program. Award options include gift cards and merchandise from leading brands and merchants, plus travel savings. Travel savings take the form of bookings on airfare, hotels, and rental cars, plus other similar options.

Points also apply to cash back rewards. Cash back rewards come as statement credits to the Liberty Bank card account, or as a direct deposit to any Liberty Bank debit, savings, or wealth management account. Points don’t expire for five years.
