About Alliant Credit Union

Alliant Credit Union is a Chicago-based credit union with nearly a century of history. Initially the United Airlines Employees’ Credit Union (UAECU), the credit union operated under that name for more than 60 years. In 2003, UAECU changed its name to Aliant Credit Union and expanded its reach beyond the United Airlines family.

Today the credit union serves over 350,000 members throughout the United States, including former members of Kaiperm Federal Credit Union of Oakland, California, and US Airways Credit Union and continental Federal Credit Union of Tempe, Arizona.

Alliant Credit Union is the eighth-largest credit union in the United States by total assets, with over $12 billion in assets as of 2020.

Membership Eligibility

Membership in Alliant was formerly restricted to United Airlines employees and their immediate families. Now, membership is open to a much wider selection of groups and individuals.

The following groups and individuals are eligible to join Alliant Credit Union:

  • Those who live or work in the following communities served by Alliant:

  • Immediate family of current Alliant Credit Union members

Those who don’t qualify for membership through the above criteria can also join Alliant by becoming a member of the Foster Care to Success (FC2S) organization.

Individuals outside the United States that qualify for Alliant CU membership may also join, but only if they hold an SSN or unexpired ITIN.
