About Safe 1 Credit Union

Safe 1 Credit Union is a not-for-profit credit union in Central and Northern California. The credit union (CU) has its headquarters in Bakersfield, California.

As a chartered CU, Safe 1 is not FDIC insured, like traditional banks. Instead, Safe 1 is insured through the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). The NCUA is also a U.S. government agency and provides members with at least $250,000 in protection.

Branch Locations

Safe 1 currently has nine branch locations throughout the area it serves. This includes four branches – and the CU’s headquarters – in Bakersfield. 

Safe 1 also operates fee-free ATMs at all branches, as well as at a variety of other locations in the areas they serve. A full list of ATM locations is on the credit union’s website. Safe 1 members can also use CO-OP ATMs fee-free. The CO-OP ATM network includes credit unions across North America, providing access to over 30,000 ATMs.
