About Kemba Financial Credit Union

Kemba Financial Credit Union (sometimes stylized as KEMBA) is a Central Ohio-based credit union with a long history.

The credit union traces its roots to 1933 as the credit union for employees of the Kroger Company – a role it still fulfills to this day. That’s actually what KEMBA stands for – Kroger Employee Mutual Benefits Association.

The first branch of Kemba was located in the Kroger bakery until relocating in 1971. The headquarters changes again in 2006, to its current location in Gahanna, OH.

Today, Kemba still serves Kroger employees, as well as employees of over 175 additional companies – and anyone that lives, works, attends school, or worships within its service area. The credit union currently boasts more than 100,00 members nationwide and over $1 billion in total assets.

Membership Eligibility

Who can join Kemba? Joining is a straightforward and simple process. Anyone who meets the following membership criteria is eligible to join Kemba:

  • Those who live, work, worship, or attend school in the following Central Ohio counties:
    • Delaware
    • Fairfield
    • Franklin
    • Licking
    • Logan
    • Madison
    • Union
  • Employees or Kemba partner companies, including the Kroger Family of Companies
  • Immediate family members of existing Kemba members

Becoming a Kemba member requires opening an account with eh credit union. The minimum deposit is $5. Once deposited, you’ll enjoy all the benefits of Kemba membership.
