Discover and Flywire are joining forces to help students and their families worldwide pay for their education. The new partnership will allow parents and students to use their Discover, Diners Club, or network alliance cards to pay tuition and fees wherever Flywire international education payments are accepted worldwide.

Flywire and Discover Partner on Global Education Payments

Flywire is the payment provider of choice for educational institutions around the world. The company’s payment solutions allow institutions to offer students a highly-tailored, convenient, and secure online payment experience. A fully customizable solution, the Flywire service solution also enables institutions to create unique payment plans to provide students and families with greater flexibility.

Now, Flywire and Discover are joining forces to provide students and schools worldwide with digital options for education payments. Students -and their families – can now use Discover, Diners Club International, or other network alliance debit and credit cards to pay their tuition and fees at more than 2,000 institutions globally.

Initially, the new Discover and Flywire partnership will only be available to students in seven countries and six different currencies:

  • Colombia – COP
  • Ecuador and the United States – USD
  • India – INR
  • Japan – JPY
  • South Korea – KRW
  • Peru – PEN

While Flywire and Discover are working on new countries and currencies, the initial offerings represent some of the fastest-growing markets for students studying abroad – and the Discover network is a popular payment method in each.

“Increasing Payment Options and Convenience”

Both Flywire and Discover hailed the new partnership in a press release announcing its formation:

“Discover is a leading digital bank and payments provider, and we’re very pleased to offer their popular Discover Global Network card brands as a payment option for the first time,” said Mohit Kansal, vice president of global payments for Flywire. “For client schools, it solves both sides of the payment equation—increasing payment options and convenience for their students and families, while minimizing the cost and complexity of reconciliation on their end.”

“Being a part of Flywire’s solution complements our goal of ensuring our cardholders can pay however and wherever they want,” said Ellie Smith, global head of digital acceptance at Discover. “Flywire’s impressive growth in the education industry and unique business model unlocks additional payment options for our cardholders across the globe.”
