Discover and Flywire are joining forces to help students and their families worldwide pay for their education. The new partnership will allow parents and students to use their Discover, Diners Club, or network alliance cards to pay tuition and fees wherever Flywire international education payments are accepted worldwide.

Flywire and Discover Partner on Global Education Payments

Flywire is the payment provider of choice for educational institutions around the world. The company’s payment solutions allow institutions to offer students a highly-tailored, convenient, and secure online payment experience. A fully customizable solution, the Flywire service solution also enables institutions to create unique payment plans to provide students and families with greater flexibility.

Now, Flywire and Discover are joining forces to provide students and schools worldwide with digital options for education payments. Students -and their families – can now use Discover, Diners Club International, or other network alliance debit and credit cards to pay their tuition and fees at more than 2,000 institutions globally.

Initially, the new Discover and Flywire partnership will only be available to students in seven countries and six different currencies:

  • Colombia – COP
  • Ecuador and the United States – USD
  • India – INR
  • Japan – JPY
  • South Korea – KRW
  • Peru – PEN

While Flywire and Discover are working on new countries and currencies, the initial offerings represent some of the fastest-growing markets for students studying abroad – and the Discover network is a popular payment method in each.

“Increasing Payment Options and Convenience”

Both Flywire and Discover hailed the new partnership in a press release announcing its formation:

“Discover is a leading digital bank and payments provider, and we’re very pleased to offer their popular Discover Global Network card brands as a payment option for the first time,” said Mohit Kansal, vice president of global payments for Flywire. “For client schools, it solves both sides of the payment equation—increasing payment options and convenience for their students and families, while minimizing the cost and complexity of reconciliation on their end.”

“Being a part of Flywire’s solution complements our goal of ensuring our cardholders can pay however and wherever they want,” said Ellie Smith, global head of digital acceptance at Discover. “Flywire’s impressive growth in the education industry and unique business model unlocks additional payment options for our cardholders across the globe.”

Credit One Launches Best Friends Credit Card

credit one bank launches best friends credit card

Last updated on May 10th, 2021

Credit One Bank has launched a new credit card designed to appeal to animal lovers everywhere. The new credit card, a co-branded Visa with nonprofit Best Friends Animal Society, lets cardholders earn up to 5% cash back and donate 1% of their purchases to help achieve an end to kill shelters across the country by 2025. Here is everything you need to know about the new Best Friends Credit Card from Credit One:

Credit One Bank Launches Best Friends Credit Card

Credit One Bank and national animal welfare nonprofit Best Friends Animal Society have a new co-branded credit card: the Best Friends Credit Card. The new card offers exclusive benefits designed for pet lovers and makes it easy for customers to help support the nonprofit’s animal welfare mission and programs.

About the Best Friends Visa Card

The Best Friends Credit Card is part of an ongoing partnership between Best Friends and Credit One Bank, which was announced earlier this year. The new card, a Visa Platinum, offers 5% cash back rewards on the first $5,000 in eligible pet shop and pet food/supply store purchases each calendar year, then 1% after that.

Cash back does not only apply to pet purchases, however. Nor is the cardholder the only recipient of rewards. Best Friends receives a donation in an amount equal to 1% of eligible purchases made with the card, which ensures all cardholders are playing their part to help the organization in its mission to eliminate kill shelters in the United States.

The Best Friends Credit Card is marketed towards applicants with established credit histories and comes with an annual fee of between $39 and zero, depending on the applicant’s creditworthiness. The card is currently live for new applicants (read our full review here).

“Make It Easier for Customers to Support Causes They Care About”

As mentioned, the new Best Friends Credit Card is the latest chapter in an ongoing partnership between Credit One Bank and Best Friends Animal Society. This partnership is helping give Credit One customers an increased ability to help causes they support with everyday purchases, according to John Coombe, Credit One Bank’s SVP on marketing, in a press release announcing the card’s launch.

“We want to make it easy for our customers to support causes they care deeply about,” he said. “That’s why Credit One Bank will make donations to Best Friends Animal Society equal to 1% of all net spend made with the Best Friends Credit Card to help support their goal of reaching no-kill shelters across the country by 2025. We’re proud to be offering a credit card that allows pet lovers to give back simply by making their everyday purchases.”

“We know we can’t reach our goals without partnerships like the one we have with Credit One Bank,” said Valerie Dorian, chief development officer at Best Friends Animal Society. “This is a great way for us to reach a different audience to raise awareness for our mission and help raise much needed funds to reach our goals.”

About Best Friends Animal Society

Best Friends Animal Society is a leading animal welfare organization working to end the killing of dogs and cats in America’s shelters by 2025. Founded in 1984, Best Friends is a pioneer in the no-kill movement and has helped reduce the number of animals killed in shelters from an estimated 17 million per year to around 625,000. Best Credit Cards with an Instant Credit Card Number on Approval

Best Cards with Instant Credit Card Number on Approval

Last updated on July 26th, 2022

Credit cards are excellent tools for making last-minute purchases. When time is of the essence, a credit card offers access to the funds you need to get the gifts you need – now. With Mother’s Day fast approaching, here are some of the best credit cards that offer instant access to the full credit card number on approval:

The Best Credit Cards with an Instant Credit Card Number on Approval

Here are five of the best credit cards on the market for those looking to make a last-minute purchase and need access to an instant card number after approval:

The PayPal Cashback Mastercard® is an excellent option for a cash back rewards card that provides an instant card number upon approval. The reason? The card offers 2% cash back on all purchases anywhere Mastercard is accepted worldwide, with no cap on the total number of rewards you can earn.

After applying and upon approval, Synchrony (the card’s issuer) provides successful applicants with their full card number. This feature gives you access to your full credit limit (or, occasionally, half of the available credit limit) – and lets you add the card to your PayPal account or another mobile wallet (such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, or others).

number upon approval. Venmo’s credit card is similar to the PayPal Mastercard in that it requires a Venmo account to apply and redeem cash back rewards. How the Venmo Visa differs, however, is in how it earns those rewards.

The Venmo Card earns up to 3% cash back on eligible purchases in the cardholder’s top spending category and 2% back on their next highest spending category. All other purchases earn a flat-rate 1% cash back. The bonus 3% and 2% categories include:

  • Transportation
  • Travel
  • Groceries
  • Entertainment
  • Dining & Nightlife
  • Bills & Utilities
  • Health & Beauty
  • Gas

Like other cards on the list, the Venmo Visa provides instant access to the entire credit card number allowing users to add their card to their mobile wallet instantly. This feature makes it an excellent card for making last-minute purchases for Mother’s Day – or any holiday or occasion.

Most Chase credit cards don’t offer an instant card number on approval. There are, however, a few exceptions to this rule, with two being the Amazon Rewards Visa and the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature cards.

Upon successful application, the Amazon Rewards cards offer instant access to the card’s credit line for use through Amazon only. While this isn’t the same as receiving a virtual credit card number for use anywhere Visa is accepted, it is still a great feature for those looking for a last-minute gift or purchase.

Amazon is the world’s largest online retailer, meaning whatever gift idea you are seeking -it’s probably available on Amazon. Even better, the company offers impressively fast shipping, so you can be certain your gift will arrive just in time – regardless of how last minute you leave it!

If you have an iPhone, you have Apple Pay. And, because you have Apple Pay, the Apple Card from Goldman Sachs might just be a last-minute gift purchasing superhero. The Apple Card is one of the most popular cash back cards on the market today – and just so happens to offer instant access to your credit limit through the Apple Pay mobile wallet.

The Apple Card earns cash back in the following categories:

  • 3% cash back at Apple and other specific retailers
  • 2% cash back when using Apple Pay
  • 1% cash back anywhere else

Of course, getting the Apple Card requires an iPhone, so Android users need not apply. Still, if you are one of the tens of millions of Americans with an Apple phone, the card is an excellent option for last-minute gift buying.

The Buy On Trust merchandise credit account is a lease-to-buy program where account holders can buy today and pay later. There is plenty of merchandise and catalog cards available, but for getting a last-minute gift, Buy On Trust is your best bet.

The Buy On Trust program offers leading brand names like Apple, LG, Bose, and more – with credit limits of up to $5,000 and flexible repayment schedules. However, unlike other catalog cards, account holders can pick up their newly-purchased merchandise at their local Best Buy store – instead of waiting on shipping.

One of the great features of merchandise cards, like Buy On Trust, is that they don’t require a good credit score. In fact, no credit history is necessary to open an account with Buy On Trust – all you need is an open and active checking account and three months of proof of income – that’s it. Looking for a last-minute gift buying aid and a tool to build your credit score? Buy On Trust might just be what you are looking for.

BBVA is seeking to make all of its global credit cards from recycled plastic by the end of 2023, according to a new press release. The banking giant, which also issues U.S. credit cards, is supercharging its goal by providing more than seven million recycled credit cards by the end of 2021.

BBVA to Construct All Credit Cards from Recycled PVC By 2023

The bank, also known as Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentina, is the second-largest bank in Spain and offers credit card products in various international countries – including the United States.  To date, BBVA has 90 million credit cards in circulation – all of which will be made of recycled polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic by the end of 2023.

Seven Million 100% Recycled Cards By the End of 2021

To supercharge this ambitious goal, BBVA aims to offer 7.3 million of these PVC cards by the end of 2021. Ultimately, all the bank’s portfolio will feature recycling PVC from waste products from various industries like packaging, printing, the automotive sector, and windows.

BBVA opted for PVC after studying various recycled materials and determining that recycled PVC was the most durable of all the available options. The bank’s current card construction process involves 86% recycled PVC – the highest level of recycled content within the global financial sector. Still, the Spanish banking giants hope to reach 100% by the end of May.

How to Pay Rent with a Credit Card

Can you pay rent with a credit card? The BestCards.com guide to paying rent with credit cards

Last updated on January 29th, 2024

Credit cards are a great way to make everyday payments. After all, it’s convenient, it’s fast, and it can earn you rewards like points or cash back. But can you use a credit card to pay other recurring bills, like rent? Here’s everything you need to know about paying rent with a credit card – and if it makes sense for you.

Table of Contents

At a Glance

  • Some landlords and management companies may allow residents to pay directly rent with a credit card.
  • Third-party services let you pay rent to most landlords, regardless of whether they accept credit cards or not
  • Paying rent with a credit card is subject to additional processing fees
  • Using a credit card to pay rent can have a serious negative impact on your credit health

Why Pay Your Rent with a Credit Card?

You can use credit cards to earn rewards on almost any transaction, so why not your rent or mortgage? Paying your housing costs with a credit card is a surefire way to build your credit score. Suppose you pay your credit card bill on time each month. In that case, the regular payments can help demonstrate to lenders that you are responsible for your credit.

You can theoretically double that credit-building power by asking your landlord to report your payments to the credit bureaus. Ask your landlord to report your rental payments to the credit bureaus through services like RentReporters, LevelCredit, or others. That means you get double the credit reporting and double the chances for a credit boost.

How to Pay Rent with a Credit Card

So, how can you pay rent with a credit card? Here are the basic steps you’ll need to follow:

  1. Check Availability: Contact your landlord or rental management company to verify if they accept credit card payments. If they do, great; if not, check out third-party bill-pay apps (more below)
  2. Find the Right Card: Pick the credit card you want to use to pay. Carefully consider why you are paying rent with a credit card. If you want to earn miles for a vacation, choose a lucrative airline, hotel, or travel rewards credit card. Consider a balance transfer or low APR credit card if you want to pay overtime at a low APR.
  3. Check Your Limits: Ensure you have available credit for the rent payment. Pay extra close attention to your credit use, as using too much of your available credit limit can harm your credit score.
  4. Set Up the Payment: Complete the transaction depending on how you pay (directly or through a third party). If directly with a credit card, consider setting up automatic payments to reduce the chances of a late or missed payment. If you use a third-party service, carefully enter your property and landlord information. These services require your credit card number, billing address, landlord account information, and payment amount.
  5. Review and Pay: Double-check all the details before confirming the payment. Ensure the correct amount is entered and verify the payment due date.

After making the payment, regularly monitor your credit card statement to ensure the transaction went through correctly. If any issues arise, promptly contact your credit card issuer and landlord to resolve them.

Now that you understand the basic steps of paying rent with a credit card, let’s dig into your two best options: paying directly to your landlord and using a third-party service:

Paying Rent Directly with a Credit Card

The easiest way to pay your rent with a credit card is directly, but only if your landlord allows it. Larger property management companies may allow credit card payments, though these would likely incur a processing fee of 2.5% or more. To see if this option is available, it is advisable to consult with your property manager or landlord.

Processing fees are the biggest drawback of paying bills with a credit card, with the typical rent payment adding around $50 or more in fees based on a $2,000 monthly rental payment.

Bilt

If your landlord doesn’t accept credit card payments directly, the Bilt Mastercard from Wells Fargo might be an option to consider. Bilt is the first-of-its-kind credit card that specifically rewards rent purchases, with cardholders earning 1X points on rent payments (up to 50,000 points each calendar year). Bilt features no processing fee for rent payments, but your landlord or property management company might so make sure to enquire first.

The Bilt Card is affiliated with the Blackstone Group – the largest landlord in the United States. But if your landlord isn’t Blackstone, don’t worry.

If your landlord doesn’t accept credit cards or you rent outside the Bilt Rewards Alliance of landlords, pay through Bilt’s mobile app, and the company will mail a physical check to your landlord. This process ensures your rent is paid in a streamlined manner while still earning rewards points.

Paying Rent with a Third-Party Payment Service

If you can’t directly pay rent with a credit card, a third-party payments service is your only other option. These payment platforms let users enter the landlord (or company) information they want to pay. The service then pays the recipient with the individual’s credit card.

These services give you more flexibility with how you pay, but at a cost. These services typically charge a fee of around 3% of the transaction cost, potentially increasing your rent payment significantly.

Here are some of the more popular third-party bill-pay services:

Plastiq

Plastiq is a unique service that lets you make payments with credit cards for various transactions not usually allowable with cards, including rent. The model Plastiq uses is very similar to other bill pay options.

The benefit of Plastiq is that payments are registered on credit card bills as “payments” and not cash advances. Cash advances typically have high APR and associated fees –around 5% of the transaction cost. Plastiq, on the other hand, charges a fee of 2.85% of the transaction – offering significant savings for the user versus a cash advance.

PlacePay

PlacePay is another popular bill payment service that lets users pay their bills using a credit card, including rent. The service enables users to make payments conveniently and securely through various methods, including credit cards, debit cards, and bank transfers.

The benefit of PlacePay is that the rent payment can be instantly transferred to your landlord’s deposit account, ensuring you pay your rent on time each month. Unfortunately, the PlacePay service charges a fee of 2.99% of the transaction amount, although the service does allow your landlord to cover the fee for you. Your mileage may vary there, however.

Melio

Melio is another third-party service that allows businesses to pay bills with a credit card. The service lets companies pay for rent, suppliers, and other everyday business expenses and bills, even where credit cards aren’t typically accepted. Melio charges a fee of 2.9% of the transaction.

Other Services

There are a growing number of third-party bill-pay services, meaning you might find a service that suits your needs better than others. Other popular Rent paying services include:

  • Rad Pad (charges a fee of 2.99% of the transaction)
  • RentPayment (charges a fee of 2.95% of the transaction)
  • Zego (charges a fee of 3% of the transaction)
  • PayPal (charges a fee of around 3% of the transaction)
  • GoCardless (charges a fee of 3% of the transaction)

Pros & Cons of Rent Pay Services

Pros Cons
Greater flexibility with payment options Additional processing fees can add significantly to your overall spend
Ability to earn reward points, miles, or cash back on rent payments Might increase your credit utilization ratio
No fears of bounced or returned checks Potential to accrue additional interest charges if not repaid in full
Purchase and fraud protection

What are the Benefits of Paying Rent with a Credit Card?

There are several advantages to paying your rent with a credit card. First and foremost, it offers convenience. With just a few clicks, you can pay rent online, eliminating the need to write and mail checks or visit your landlord in person. This is especially beneficial if you have a busy schedule or frequently travel.

Another advantage of paying rent with a credit card is earning rewards. Many credit cards offer cash back, travel points, or other incentives for every dollar spent. Using your credit card to pay your rent, you can use these rewards to earn money or enjoy discounted travel expenses.

Additionally, paying rent with a credit card can help you build a a credit history and improve your credit score. Consistently making on-time payments shows responsible financial behavior and can positively impact your creditworthiness. This can be particularly beneficial if you’re looking to apply for a loan or mortgage in the future.

Drawbacks of Using a Credit Card to Pay Rent

While paying rent with a credit card can be advantageous, a few factors should be considered before opting for this payment method. First, assess whether your landlord or rental management company accepts credit card payments. Not all landlords are set up to accept credit card payments, so it’s important to confirm this before proceeding.

Another consideration is the convenience fee associated with paying rent with a credit card. Some landlords charge a convenience fee, a percentage of your rent payment, to cover the processing fees they incur. It’s crucial to weigh the convenience of paying with a credit card against the additional cost of the convenience fee. Calculate whether the potential rewards outweigh the fees you’ll incur to determine if it’s financially beneficial for you.

Lastly, it’s important to consider your own financial discipline. Using a credit card to pay rent can be tempting, but it’s critical to ensure that you have the means to pay off your credit card balance in full each month. Carrying a balance and accruing interest charges can quickly negate any rewards or benefits you may have earned.

Tips for Maximizing Credit Card Rewards when Paying Rent

If you’ve decided to pay your rent with a credit card, there are several strategies you can employ to maximize your credit card rewards. Here are some tips to help you make the most of this payment method:

  1. Pick the Right Card: Look for credit cards that offer generous rewards or cash back on rent payments. Compare different cards and rewards structures to find the best fit for your financial goals.
  2. Keep an Eye on Spending Caps: Some credit cards require reaching a certain spending threshold to unlock bonus rewards. If your rent payment doesn’t meet the threshold, consider using your credit card for other expenses to reach the required amount.
  3. Pay In-Full: To avoid interest charges and maximize your rewards, paying off your balance in full each month is crucial. Carrying a balance can quickly negate any benefits you may have earned.

By implementing these strategies, you can make the most of paying your rent with a credit card and optimize your credit card rewards.

Alternatives to Paying Rent with a Credit Card

While paying rent with a credit card can be convenient and rewarding, it may not be the right choice for everyone. Several alternatives exist that may better suit your financial needs. Here are some alternatives to consider:

  1. Bank Transfers: Many landlords accept bank transfers as a payment method. This allows you to electronically transfer funds from your bank account to your landlord’s account, eliminating the need for physical checks or cash.
  2. Automated Bill Pay: Set up automatic bill payment through your bank. This way, your rent payment will be automatically deducted from your bank account each month, ensuring timely payments without manual intervention.
  3. Checks: If your landlord accepts checks, you can opt for this traditional payment method. Write a check for your rent amount and deliver it to your landlord or mail it to their designated address.
  4. Money Order: If you prefer a more secure payment method, you can obtain a money order or cashier’s check from your bank and provide it to your landlord. These payment methods offer a paper trail and reduce the risk of fraud.

What Else Can You Pay with a Credit Card?

Other Bills

You can pay pretty much any bill with the third-party services covered. You can use your credit card to pay many everyday bills, including mortgages, utilities, taxes, tuition, and more.

Cryptocurrency

Can you buy crypto with a credit card? The simple answer is yes, but it isn’t always a straightforward process.

Not all credit card payment networks allow cardholders to use their credit card to purchase digital assets like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, or Litecoin. Most major networks don’t allow cardholders to purchase digital currency with their cards. However, American Express is a notable exception.

Which Credit Card Issuers Allow Crypto Purchases?

American Express revised its cash advance language in 2020 to include digital currency purchases. While both Visa and Mastercard are making strides towards allowing their customers to use their digital currencies and other digital assets as payment on their payment networks, not every card issuer allows their cards to be used for crypto purchases.

Chase is one example of a major lender that allows cryptocurrency purchases with its credit cards. Chase announced the change to its cash advance rules beginning in April, which allows Chase credit cardholders to purchase Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Ethereum, and other cryptocurrencies – with the additional costs associated with cash advances.

CEX.io is a cryptocurrency exchange that allows users to purchase Bitcoin and other crypto assets with their credit card – but only Visa or Mastercard. CEX charges a combined fee of around 10% for purchases of crypto assets with a credit card. This fee breaks down as a 2.99% transaction fee and a 7% trading fee.

Other services, like Coinbase, do not allow credit card purchases through their platforms.

Credit Cards

Balance transfers are the most popular way to pay off a credit card balance in bulk, but what if you wanted to pay off a credit card with another credit card? Yes, but it is much more complicated than that.

Third-party bill-pay services might seem ideal but cause significant problems, including huge repayment fees and interest charges. Some services, like Plastiq, do not permit credit card payments with other credit cards.

Cash advances are another option for smaller balances, but these transactions come with steep fees. A cash advance is a type of financing where you withdraw physical cash against your credit card balance to pay for a good or service that cannot be paid directly with a credit card.

Using a cash advance can let a cardholder use their existing credit line to pay off some of another credit card. This, however, is not without its problems. Advances carry hefty fees (often around 5% of the advance or $10, whichever is greater) and feature interest rates significantly higher than purchases or balance transfers. Additionally, there is no grace period for a cash advance, meaning once you take money from one card to pay another, the first card will start accumulating interest immediately.

Conclusion

So, is paying rent with a credit card right for you?

Paying your rent with a credit card can provide convenience, rewards, and an opportunity to build your credit history. However, it’s essential to consider the potential convenience fees and ensure you have the means to pay off your credit card balance in full each month. By following the step-by-step guide in this article and considering the alternatives and best credit cards available, you can decide whether paying rent with a credit card is the right choice.

As with any financial decision, assessing your circumstances and goals is crucial. Evaluate the benefits, drawbacks, and potential costs before deciding whether paying rent with a credit card aligns with your personal financial strategy. By doing so, you can unlock the convenience and rewards associated with this payment method while maintaining your financial stability.

Members will also still redeem those points and enjoy those perks at Radisson properties in the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

According to Business Traveller, the shift towards two loyalty programs directly results from changing data regulations in the United States.

Other Notes About the New Radisson Rewards Americas Program

Radisson is reducing the value of Radisson Rewards points as part of the new Americas program launch. According to a report by Doctor of Credit, 62% of properties in the Radisson portfolio will increase in price when redeeming points for free night stays. This price increase breaks down as 40% of properties increasing award nights by 1,000 to 2,000 points and 22% of properties raising rates by more than 2,000 points.

The changes in award night pricing are due to a new award chart to accompany the Radisson Rewards Americas launch. Radisson says the new award chart is simplified, offering increased value at over 30% of properties.

Here is the new Radisson Rewards Americas award chart:

Grand Reserve Launches The Vault

grand reserve the vault

Last updated on January 31st, 2024

Grand Reserve Rewards is providing members a chance to get their hands on exclusive and rare wines at a fraction of the price. The program recently launched The Vault, a unique portal that allows members to redeem their credit card points to score super rare and impressive wines for below market value.

Grand Reserve Launches Exclusive Wine Store “The Vault”

The Grand Reserve™ World Mastercard® is the ideal credit card for the wine enthusiast. Not only does the card earn up to 7X points on wine purchases and provide exclusive discounts at partner wineries, stores, and more, but members also receive a complimentary Priority Wine Pass – providing members with personalized tasting itineraries at some of the premier and family-owned wineries along the U.S. West Coast.

Now, Grand Reserve is taking its wine rewards program to the next level by launching its new rare and vintage wines shop: the Vault. The Vault provides Grand Reserve members access to some of the rarest wines on the market at exclusive members-only prices.

The new Vault is providing cardholders the chance to score some of the most coveted wines available. These wines are so exclusive that Grand Reserve limits members to one bottle, per month, per customer.

Exceptional Value for Real Rewards Members

Announcing the new Vault launch, Grand Reserve provided an actual testimonial from a satisfied Vault customer and Grand Reserve card member. That member used the Grand Reserve’s impressive sign-up bonus of 50,000 points to purchase a valuable vintage wine to share with friends to celebrate their coronavirus vaccination:

"I was able to redeem points earned with my Grand Reserve credit card for a bottle of 1997 Harlan Napa Cab worth $1,000. I look forward to enjoying it with friends after being vaccinated. The decision to sign up for the Grand Reserve card turned out even better than expected."
Robert Dwyer
Grand Reserve cardmember

Some other notable examples of the excellent wines Grand Reserve members have been able to score include:

  • 2003 Shafer Hillside Select – 35,200 points
  • 2010 Saxum James Berry Vineyard Magnum – 30,300 points
  • 1995 Krug  Champagne – 40,600 points
  • 2002 Louis Roederer Cristal Champagne – 38,000 points
  • 1997 Harlan Estate Proprietary Red – 99,200 points
  • 1990 Chateau Margaux –  113,400 points

Keep in mind that the initial sign-up bonus for the Grand Reserve World Mastercard is currently 50,000 points after making $3,000 in purchases within the first three months from account opening. This means that many of the above mentioned rare wines are attainable after only a modest spend within the first three months. And, since the Grand Reserve Card also earns 3X points at both bars and restaurants (and 2X on all other purchases), it’s versatile enough to quickly reach that spending goal.

Other Grand Reserve Rewards Exclusives

The launch of the Vault isn’t the only way Grand Reserve is adding additional value to its cardmembers. Rewards members have also been treated to exceptional and exclusive invitations, such as attending an invite-only release party (with a complimentary tasting kit sent to them) at a world-class winery and attending a complimentary tasting event to sample a pre-release wine from a 100-point winemaker. Other additions include the ability to use points for “off-menu” wine tastings and experiences usually reserved for invite-only experiences.

Paceline to Introduce the First Fitness Credit Card

Last updated on August 14th, 2023

Fitness rewards app Paceline is introducing a new credit card later this year. The new Paceline Visa Signature Card will allow cardholders to earn rewards on health and wellness purchases – in addition to rewards earned through fitness activities via the company’s app.

What is the Paceline Visa Signature?

The new Paceline Visa Signature credit card is hoping to capitalize on the health and wellness sector by launching the first fitness credit card in the United States. The new card will offer cash back rewards on spending in select categories, including categories “nourish,” “move,” “recover,” and “celebrate.”

When Will the Paceline Visa Signature Launch?

The launch date for the Paceline Visa Signature is currently unknown. Interested consumers can sign-up for the card’s waitlist. They can also download the company’s mobile app through the Apple App Store. Keep In mind that the initial credit card launch will target only the most active users.

“Using Credit Card Rewards to Increase Physical Activity”

Discussing the upcoming launch, Joel Lieginger, Paceline’s founder and CEO, said the card will help get Americans moving – and reward the app’s most loyal users:

“Our existing users spend nearly half of their monthly total spend on health and wellness gym memberships, apparel, equipment, and groceries,” he said. “Through our own credit card, we can enhance this experience further by using credit card rewards to further increase physical activity, creating a virtuous cycle to change the nature of preventive health in society.”

About Paceline

Paceline is the first-ever fitness rewards platform. The Paceline app provides a financial benefit to physical fitness by tracking activity and rewarding that activity with cash back rewards.

Reaching 150 minutes every week entitles users to rewards, which are linkable to debit and credit cards. Awards through Paceline include rewards from major names, including Dunkin’ Whole Foods, Starbucks, Athleta, Kind, Nike, and more.

The Paceline mobile app is available through the Apple App store. The company seeks to add additional platforms, including the Google Play Store, in the future.

What Are the Best Unsecured Cards for People with No Credit History?

what-are-the-best-unsecured-cards-for-people-with-no-credit-history

Last updated on September 1st, 2023

People with no credit history find it tough to get credit because lenders aren’t sure how big of a risk extending credit to them will pose. One of the first scenarios in which people without a credit history face difficulty is applying for a credit card. After all, this is the entry point to the world of credit for many. When facing this figurative brick wall, some might turn to secured credit cards as a simple route towards good credit. However, for those who don’t have the money for a deposit, there are still plenty of quality unsecured cards for those with no credit history.

At a Glance

What Does It Mean To Have “No Credit History?”

No credit history is not the same thing as bad credit. Bad credit means that your credit score is damaged, perhaps as low as in the 300s. No credit history, on the other hand, means you have no recent credit history. Having no credit score means you have not borrowed money in any form within the last seven years. Of course, you may also fall into that category if you never had a credit card or loan.

The Best Credit Cards for No Credit That Aren’t Secured Cards

Just because you have no credit history doesn’t mean you can’t get a good unsecured credit card – it just means your options will be smaller. One of the best offers available is the Surge® Platinum Mastercard®.

Mission Lane is one of those credit card companies that understand how hard it can be to build a positive credit history. That is why its Mission Lane Visa® Credit Card offers all the benefits of other subprime credit cards – without the hidden fees. Unlike some other issuers that only report to one agency, Mission Lane reports to all three major credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. There are no activation fees, no maintenance fees, and where there is an annual fee, the company is upfront and honest.

Additionally, Mission Lane may provide credit limit increases for responsible credit use. Responsible credit use includes best practices like:

① Check and review your credit reports Ⓐ Check your credit reports from all three of the nationwide consumer reporting agencies: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.
Ⓑ Check for negative credit information, like potential fraud or ID theft, accounts in collection, or unpaid balances.
② Pay your bills on time Ⓐ Automatic payments are a great way to avoid accidentally missing a payment.
Ⓑ Splitting monthly payments into two smaller payments can help stretch budgets while ensuring you pay on time.
③ Keep credit use low Ⓐ Credit utilization accounts for roughly 30% of your credit score, so aim to keep credit use as low as possible.
Ⓑ Consider a balance transfer credit card if your credit use is creeping up and you want to consolidate that debt into one new account, typically at 0% Intro APR.
④ Limit new applications Limit any new credit applications to only what is essential (i.e. if applying for a balance transfer credit card).
⑤ Keep old accounts open Don’t close any old, unused accounts. Closing accounts can lower your average credit utilization.

Who Can Benefit from an Entry-Level Credit Card?

Credit card offers for no credit history, like the ones above, are ideal not only for those who have never borrowed money in the past, but also for college students with little credit card experience. Student cards feature lower credit thresholds, but not all students will qualify. In these instances, students who don’t have the money for a secured card, or a co-signer, can get an entry-level or starter card, such as the Reflex or First Access, and build up their credit.
