About Security Service Federal Credit Union

Security Service Federal Credit Union (SSFCU) is a federally insured credit union based in Utah, Texas, and Colorado.  The credit union was founded in 1956 to serve the financial needs of members of the U.S. Air Force Security Service.

Today, membership with the credit union is much less restrictive, with over 2,400 ways to join SSFCU. All told, there are more than 925,000 members across the United States, making Security Service Federal Credit Union one of the largest credit unions in the country.

Who Can Join Security Service Federal Credit Union?

Membership in SSFCU is open to the following individuals:

  • Live, work, volunteer, attend school, or own a business in the following U.S. state:
    • Colorado
    • Texas
    • Utah
  • Are members of select military branches or units in the service areas of the credit union
  • Are Department of Defense employees at specific military bases in the service areas of the credit union
  • The family or household members of existing Security Service Federal Credit Union members

To apply for SSFCU membership, all you need to do is apply to open an account with the credit union. All account types are available, including checking accounts, savings accounts, auto loans, credit cards, and mortgages.

SSFCU Branch Locations

Security Service Federal Credit Union currently operates approximately 70 branches throughout its service areas. These locations include 37-member service centers in Texas, 19 centers in Colorado, and 14 in Utah.

SSFCU members also have access to over 10,000 ATMs fee-free through the CO-OP ATM network and via the Stripes ATM network. The credit union also offers shared branch cervices that allows SSFCU members to receive in-person assistance at thousands of shared branches with other credit unions across the United States.
