About First Financial Credit Union

First Financial Credit Union is a New Mexico state-chartered credit union with its headquarters in Albuquerque.

The credit union was founded in 1937 by ten employees of the local Bell Systems telephone company. For more than 60 years, the credit union served as the financial institution for Bell employees in the state. That changed in the 1980s, however, with the breakup of the Bell Systems monopoly.

To help avoid the economic impact of the breakup of Bell Systems, First Financial Credit Union sought to offer membership to a broader array of businesses and individuals. Today, over 200 companies are eligible for First Financial membership.

First Financial wins many awards for their community involvement and customer service, including a Best-in-State credit union award from Forbes, and a family-friendly award from FamilyFriendlyNM.com.
