Wyndham is the latest hotel brand to announce an extension of elite status for current Wyndham Rewards members. The company will also extend the benefits of Wyndham Gold status for all essential workers fighting on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic. Here’s what you need to know about the Wyndham Rewards status extension and coronavirus heroes thank you bonus.
#EverydayHeroes Receive Complimentary Gold Level Status
To say thank you to those who continue to make sacrifices during the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, Wyndham will offer complimentary Gold status in the Wyndham Rewards program to those who make daily life go.
This Gold Level offers provides guests at Windchime properties a variety of perks. Gold benefits include late checkout, accelerated points-earning through the Wyndham Rewards program, preferred room choice, and more.
Who Are Essential Workers?
Given the disruption to everyday life, the classification of “essential” by Wyndham is broad. Those eligible for Gold Level include healthcare operations workers, workers in essential infrastructure, media, manufacturing, and retail. Wyndham also offers this reward to those involved in the dispensation of basic necessities to disadvantaged populations, and workers in construction, defense, maintenance, safety, and sanitation.
Wyndham Status Extension for Existing Members
Existing Gold, Platinum, and Diamond Level members in the Wyndham Rewards program will automatically receive an extension of their status through December 31, 2021. Also, the brand will pause the expiration of points through September 2020.
Waiving Change and Cancellation Penalties
Wyndham is also waiving both changes and cancellations penalties for all stays through June 30, 2020. This change will allow guests to alter their bookings, without fear of additional fees, when they give the company notice of their cancellation at least 24-hours in advance. For stays after June 30, 2020, Wyndham will waive cancellation or change fees when the customer provides at least 48-hour notice.
