Chase Freedom holders no longer need hold their breath, the bonus categories for January, February, and March of 2020 have finally been released and were announced earlier this morning.

Chase Freedom Bonus Categories: January-March 2020

Beginning January 1st and ending March 31st Chase Freedom credit card owners can earn 5% back on up to a combined $1,500 on the following purchase categories:

  • Gas stations
  • Streaming services
  • Internet, cable, and phone services

The first Chase Freedom bonuses of the upcoming year are fairly predictable and closely resemble the Q1 bonus categories of previous years. It’s direct competitor, the Discover it Cash Back card, offers completely parallel bonus categories of 5% back on grocery stores, Walgreens, and CVS. Chase Freedom owners will be able to activate the new Q1 bonus categories beginning December 15th and have until January 14th to do so.

Gas stations will present the best opportunity for cardholders to maximize the 5% categories in Q1. Those who don’t drive enough to warrant filling their tanks up enough to put a significant dent in the $1,500 quarterly limit can purchase physical gift cards from their favorite brands.

Streaming Services

If you’ve been considering whether to sign up for the new Disney+ streaming platform that everyone has been raving about (is there anyone who’s not currently obsessed with Baby Yoda?) 2020 is the time to do it. This 5% bonus includes video and music streaming services and can be used for popular services such as Spotify, Pandora, Hulu, and Netflix. Paying for yearly subscriptions (if available) well yield the most bang for your digital buck.

Internet, Cable & Phone Services

For the average person, this bonus category will only be useful once a month when bills are due. Don’t already own the Chase Freedom? Here’s how it works.
