Nobody like paying interest on their credit cards. That’s probably why cards that offer 0% introductory periods are so popular! Thinking of getting a new card and want to ensure you get the best possible deal? Here are our top picks for the best 0% intro APR credit cards of 2021:
The Best 0% Intro APR Credit Cards of 2021
Consumers perennially favor the Discover It family of credit cards – and it’s easy to see why. All Discover credit cards come with the bank’s Cashback Match after year one.
Equally impressive, however, are the 0% intro APR offers that come with some of the issuer’s card products. The Discover It Cash Back, Discover It Chrome, and Discover It Miles all come with 0% introductory APR for 14 months on both purchases and balance transfers.
The Discover It Cash Back is a versatile cash back rewards card that earns 5% back on a rotating selection of categories. On the other hand, the Chrome Card is 2% cash back at gas stations and restaurants on up to $1,000 per quarter and 1% back on all other purchases. The Miles Card, Discover’s travel credit card, earns an unlimited 1.5X miles on all purchases.
No matter which of the three cards chosen, cardholders still get that lengthy 0% intro APR period – and the Cashback Match- not bad for cards with no annual fee.

The Citi® Diamond Preferred® and Citi Simplicity® both feature one of the longest intro APR periods for any credit card on the market today. New accounts enjoy a whopping 18-month 0% introductory APR on both purchases and balance transfers, with either card – and a competitive APR after that.
Unlike the Discover It range of credit cards, however, neither the Simplicity nor the Diamond Preferred offer rewards like cash back or miles with every purchase – or the Discover Cashback Match. Still, for cards with no annual fees, both Citi options provide an excellent platform for those looking for a lengthy interest-free period.
Assent Platinum Secured Mastercard
The Assent Platinum 0% Intro Rate Mastercard Secured Card offers a slew of great features not typically found with secured cards. Paramount of these features is 0% intro APR on purchases for the first six months.
Very few secured credit cards offer sign-up bonuses or rewards of any type, so getting zero-percent interest with the Assent is a major plus. Not only that, but the Assent Platinum also Mastercard features a very competitive APR on purchases once the six-month intro period ends. This rate, 12.99%, is almost six percentage points lower than the national average APR for a secured credit card – around 18%.
Like Citi, Chase also offers two credit cards with a 0% intro APR. Both the Chase Freedom Flex and Freedom Unlimited come with 0% intro APR for 15 months on purchases and a competitive APR after that.
The Freedom Flex is the star of the Freedom line of credit cards, offering 5% back on the first $1,500 in rotating categories each quarter, 5% back on travel booked through Chase Ultimate Rewards, 3% back on dining and drugstores, and 1% back on all other purchases.
The Freedom Unlimited, the other card in the Chase Freedom range, offers 5% back on travel booked through Chase Ultimate Rewards, 3% back on dining and drugstores, and unlimited 1.5% cash back on all other purchases.
